I always smile when I see your name in my inbox and try and sit quietly with a cup of tea to read it. You make me feel calm, thank you! x

Ah, so glad you were able to appreciate the moment of happiness. And also that you got back to Gladstone's to revel in it as a writer free of deadlines!

Apparently, us humans can detect more shades of green than any other colour and/or mammal. Could be both, but might only be true of one. Brain not always braining these days (and I don't want to check!) xx

Thank you!

That is super interesting re greens. Just had a little look and apparently it's an evolutionary thing to help us spot predators. (Obviously writers would not be spotting predators, they would be thinking up names for all of the greens.)

Wishing you all the best in your edits and the new book you’re excited to write. When my mother passed away, it surprised me how long grief really took over. I kept asking myself “when do I start to feel better?” It took a long time, and I had to be really patient with myself. Time does heal but you have to adjust to this new life without that person. I’m happy to hear you’re feeling happy again.

I was a bit like you at Gladstone’s, always there under pressure to write a whole new wodge of PhD. Until I ditched the PhD and carried on going to Gladstone’s anyway. A perfect place.

It really is, isn't it? I feel about 300 times cleverer just by walking in to the Reading Room.

I love the serendipity of the books you happen to be sat next to. However apparently obscure or wilfully theological I’d always find one that fascinated me more than what I was supposedly there for.
